Physical media for retro and arcade enthusiasts is experiencing one of its most exciting quarters in recent memory. While digital marketplaces remain vulnerable to server shutdowns and delistings, dedicated physical cartridges and boutique hardware prove that having the cartridge, box and manual in hand is irreplaceable. Today, we shine a spotlight on three major physical releases taking collector pre-order charts by storm: id Software's savage DOOM Collection 1 on Evercade, the long-awaited physical Nintendo Switch cartridge of Yakuza Kiwami, and SNK and HyperMegaTech's arcade onslaught featuring the NEOGEO Super Pocket alongside the NEOGEO Arcade cartridge range.

1. DOOM Collection 1: id Software's hellhound anthology hits Evercade

The announcement of DOOM Collection 1 (Home Computer collection #11) represents a crowning achievement for Blaze Entertainment. Rather than a stripped-down port, this release serves as an exhaustive historical archive of the FPS that transformed the PC gaming landscape:

• DOOM and DOOM II: Hell on Earth: complete native execution, responsive mapped controls and real-time save states.
• Seven legendary expansion and map packs: includes Master Levels for DOOM II, the punishing TNT: Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment from Final Doom, as well as No Rest for the Living, John Romero's celebrated Sigil and Sigil II, and the id Deathmatch Pack #1.
• Collectible packaging: traditional clamshell case with numbered spine and a full-color instructional manual featuring archival id Software artwork.

2. Yakuza Kiwami: Kazuma Kiryu's genesis arrives on physical Switch cartridge

For beat 'em up and Japanese drama fans, the physical Nintendo Switch debut of Yakuza Kiwami is an essential milestone. Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have translated the PS2 remake to Nintendo's hybrid with crisp visual fidelity and high-octane brawling:

• Four dynamic combat styles: switch instantly between Brawler, lightning-fast Rush, heavy Beast, and the iconic Dragon style to dominate the underworld of Kamurocho.
• The Majima Everywhere system: Goro Majima prowls the city in comical and menacing disguises to ambush Kiryu, pushing the Dragon of Dojima to regain his true strength.
• Iconic side activities: Pocket Circuit racing, mahjong, shogi, karaoke bars, and authentic Sega arcade machines.
• Collector-grade physical release: region-free cartridge with reversible cover art and full multi-language subtitle support.

3. The NEOGEO arcade arsenal: handheld power and physical MVS carts

SNK's 24-bit Neo Geo MVS/AES hardware remains the undisputed benchmark of arcade greatness. The Evercade and HyperMegaTech ecosystem pays tribute to this legacy with hardware and dedicated cartridges:

• NEOGEO Super Pocket (€129.95): an ultra-portable pocket handheld featuring an arcade-tuned D-pad, high-resolution IPS screen, USB-C charging, and 14 built-in SNK masterpieces (such as Metal Slug X, Fatal Fury Special and Samurai Shodown II). It includes an Evercade cartridge slot on the back.
• NEOGEO Arcade Cartridges 1 to 4 (from €24.95): dedicated physical cartridges carrying heavyweight classics like NEOGEO Arcade 1 (Metal Slug, Shock Troopers, Ironclad, Sengoku, KOF 2000) and NEOGEO Arcade 4 (Blazing Star, Metal Slug 4, KOF 2002, 3 Count Bout).
• Universal compatibility: all cartridges run seamlessly on the Super Pocket, Evercade VS-R home console, and Evercade Alpha bartop arcades.
